Women's Wisdom Quest

Do you:

…crave solitude to set your internal compass straight to the north star of your heart center?

…long to listen to the quiet whispers of truth that have been shadowed by other’s stories or silenced by fear?

…desire to return to your place in the wild web of life as a woman who belongs?

Women’s Wisdom Quest is an invitation into a welcoming community of seasoned guides and seekers to prepare together for an opportunity of solitude in the verdant lap of Mother Earth. In the wilderness, clarity is found in the mirror of nature.

Here, your innate connection to the cycles of nature, to fertility and death, the sun and stars, all are witnessed and remembered as the sensual and mysterious nature of the feminine.

Join our circle as we hold space for your uncensored truth and your intention to mark your current life passages and this sacred remembering of who you are.

Program Overview:

Preparation
This program begins with 3 preparation meetings. During this time, you will:

  • refine your practice of embodiment, boundaries, and ritual safety while deepening into relationship with your other-than human kin;
  • begin to explore and gain embodied experience of the 4-shields/directions, the teachings that inform and hold the container for the wisdom quest;
  • learn about potential hazzards (flora/fauna/weather/animals, etc) that you could encounter during your solo-time including best practices for having a safe+wild time in nature;
  • participate in a day-long Vision Walk. If local, we will gather at a wild location near Sandpoint. If you are non-local, you will receive instructions and support for how to create this powerful, preparatory ceremony where you live (keep reading for more details about the vision walk).

Vision Walk
This day program is available to all Women Wisdom Quest participants, at a wild location near Sandpoint, Idaho, as a component of the group preparation for the Women’s Wisdom Quest. The Vision Walk serves as a condensed version of the vision quest, a single day ceremony as an intention setting exploration, with Nature as mirror to one’s inner truth.

This day begins with an overview of the medicine wheel as an indigenous wisdom framework that invites the shift of one’s awareness and understanding towards a holistic worldview. This intersection of our physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual consciousness leads the day into exploring both place and feelings, holding the curiosity of clarifying an intention for the upcoming Solo Quest.

After an hour of sharing and orienting to the parameters of the land and wildlife, participants will spend most of the day alone, exploring and observing. The final hour of the day will be spent together in back council listening to stories and experiences, with the guides offering reflections on participants’ stories, within the regenerative framework of medicine wheel teachings.

Nine-day in-person immersion in the wilds of North Idaho

More details about this part of the program are below.

Integration
We will meet two additional times following the in-person immersion via zoom or in-person (if all participants happen to be local) to continue to anchor the medicine received during your time on the mountain in your daily life.

9-day In-Person Nature Immersion
This 9 day wilderness initiation includes three days of in-person preparation, three days and nights of solo in nature, and three days of incorporation to recognize, embody and celebrate the newly emerging self. Breakfast and dinner are provided by ROPS guides during our basecamp preparation and integration time. Our two final meals (dinner on day 8 and breakfast on day 9) are held in a local restaurant and each participant is responsible for covering personal costs for these meals.

Preparations on day one through three include wilderness and first aid skills to care for yourself in your solo time, as well as emotional, spiritual and cognitive considerations. Women will explore an important element of a rite of passage: what old aspects of yourself are ready to let go of, in order to allow the new to emerge?  Ritual and archetypal themes common to pan cultural rites of passage will be shared to support your personal needs.

The solo experience is a threshold moment that invites you to enter willingly into the realm of mystery. Your guides will maintain a safe perimeter around the area while you are alone and another quester will fast nearby. The two of you will be buddies, each day leaving assurance of your well-being at a stone pile erected along the borders of your respective areas. You will be prepared to fast from social company, media, technology, and food; you will carry water to your solo site. Please discuss your medical history with your guides to decide if fasting (from food) is right for you.

The period of integration begins at sunrise on the fourth morning when women return to basecamp from their solo site. Our final three days together are devoted to hearing the stories from the experience of each woman, and supporting the Incorporation of their unique gifts and self-knowledge into the body, mind and soul of each participant. Nourishing food is an important aspect of incorporation, as is preparing each woman spiritually, emotionally and mentally to return to their home with the new medicine each has found.
