This 7 week learning community is designed to get youth 8 to 11 years old outside and in the elements. With nature as the container, we design our explorations to focus on the heart of what it means to be human: building right relationship with the natural world, our self and other humans! This model for holistic learning is designed to nourish the consciousness of feeling beings ages 8-11. This is a foundational experience that prepares youth for participating in our Spring Rites of Passage for 10-12 year olds.
Returning t(w)eens have an opportunity to join the fun as 12 and 13 year olds, with an opportunity to develop their leadership qualities and assist the guide team.
Parents Day is a cherished component of Kids Core. Join us with your child at PSW to play in the woods and learn practical parenting tools that nourish this age of Feeling Being. More details will be emailed for Parents Day upon registration.

Weeks One and Two lay out the foundation of how we build trust, friendship and safety to explore new places. Through cooperative games marital arts and sensory explorations, youth explore somatic self-knowledge, social cues and connection with place.
Weeks Three and Four introduce two main characters from Marshall Rosenberg’s teachings on Communication. Through improvisation and cooperative games, Giraffe and Jackal lead our youth in exploring emotional intelligence, expressing feelings with a healthy amount of silliness and fun as they build listening skills and empathy muscles!
Weeks Five and Six highlight honesty, fairness and justice as we face challenges that may provoke our shadow sides and our tendency to protect ourselves from hurt. Cooperation is only possible with ample trust! Talking councils help us debrief the celebrations and challenges that emerge.
Week Seven closes our 7 week journey with a grand group weaving of a web, as we embody a network of youth and mentors celebrating our interconnectedness while reviewing our new tools that we’ve harnessed to benefit each youth, their friendships and families.
